Allotment awards: Success!

Knapmill allotments were awarded Best Site at the 2013 Lewisham allotment awards.

Well done to everyone for making the site a success through their hard work on their own plots and helping on our communal projects and events.
Particular thanks should go to Denny and Lynn whose efforts on the committee over a number of years have culminated in this award.

Lets hope as a site we can build on this award and improve the site for the coming years.

Seed Catalogues

Seed catalogues are here!
Please collect yours from the box in toilet and return by end of month-with cheque-‘knapmill way allotment association’ (in post box).

Why get seeds from us?
Cheaper!! Each veg pack is between 50p and £1 less than their normal catalogue price

Kings provide seeds for the likes of the lost gardens heligan- so top quality, and many unusual varieties, including a choice of organic seeds

A small % of total cost is returned to us, so the site as whole benefits whilst not costing you more.

Annual Plot Reviews

ANNUAL PLOT REVIEW
 WEEK STARTING 20TH OCT

...........................................................................
Firstly, the majority of plot holders have had a great year-well done!
Thank you to all who help and support the running of the site – in big ways and small- your efforts are very much appreciated by us all.
..........................................................................

As is our practice, the committee will be looking over each plot and discussing any issues of non-cultivation / weeds etc, and will then be contacting the plot holders concerned.

We have a huge waiting list in Lewisham for plots, and we are responsible for ensuring all plots are being fully used and properly cultivated.

Whilst we do not want to have to ask anyone to leave- if you are not growing any/many vegetables and not keeping your plot in good order, maybe this isn’t the right time for you to have an allotment....after all, someone else could benefit so much from space you are neglecting.

If you wish to discuss any problems you have experienced this year that may have affected your time at the site, or wish to discuss reducing your plot size because you are struggling- please contact us – we want to help if we can.
Happy gardening
Denny (Secretary 07966373933) Dennis (Chair 07411434763) Lynn (Treasurer 02086951910)

Social

Saturday 20th July

Social at the site from 2pm (14h00).

All welcome, bring any food and drinks you may wish to share.

The social will celebrate Allyson and her contribution to the success of our site over the last few years. We hope to unveil a bench to commemorate Allyson.
This will not be formal ceremony but a happy remembrance of  Allyson's life.

Allyson

Sadly, Allyson died yesterday, she had been ill for sometime and our thoughts are with her friends and family and in particular Francis, Allyson's son.

Allyson was both a friend and inspiration to many plot holders at Knapmill and was instrumental in nurturing the community spirit  and togetherness onsite that led to the positive atmosphere and the many achievements which have improved the site for all members.

Throughout her illness Allyson remained an integral part of our allotment community and was at the AGM in her postion as Chair only a matter of weeks ago, evidence of her great commitment to the site and most importantly its members, despite her illness.

AGM is Saturday 4th May at 1pm, planned to last half hour, followed by a bring and share get together- important all who are able do attend.

Anyone who would like to stand for role of an officer- chair / treasurer/ secretary- should let Denny know in advance please. All nominations very welcome!! If you'd just like to help out in some way, but can't commit to take on role of officer, its great opportunity to get to know other plotholders better, and learn new skills/put your skills to even greater use; just mention it either at/before the AGM.
Thanks

Denny
